Meross smart plugs and a problem with the HomeKit router

Cupertino, May 10, 2021

I have a HomeKit compatible Eero router. A nice feature is that you can use it to restrict any HomeKit iot device to work only on the local network (without internet access). To be HomeKit compatible, I thought devices should keep their basic functionality in this way. However, my Meross plugs, which should be HomeKit compatible, no longer work immediately. My Hue bulbs and other devices continue to work well, but Meross plugs must connect to an external server to work. This is very annoying. Is there a solution for this? I'm considering switching to another HomeKit outlet.
