Motion/Occupancy Sensors?

Cupertino, October 4, 2021

I am looking to put some sensors around the house to automatically control lights and do not want to spend too much. Also am wondering what the difference between motion and occupancy as sensors are?

I essentially want it so that if i walk in to a room, the lights turn on and only when i leave, they turn off. I know the IKEA motion sensors are cheap but I am not sure if they are compatible with other homekit devices or only IKEA lights? Also with motion sensors, how do you guys recommend that I set up an automation to only turn off the lights once I leave rather than just after a timer since the first motion was detected? Is this what an occupancy sensor is for instead? Are these more expensive?
