Moving to a new home - best practices.

Cupertino, October 13, 2020

Hello everyone

I have a fully homekit-ed out home with 40+ Wemo switches and dimmers, HomePods, Ecobees, Rachio sprinkler system etc. etc...and we are moving to a new home. However, I am leaving all the switches and dimmers behind: no time to switch them out and I don't love Wemos anyway, so I may look into alternatives.

I am however taking a handful of accessories, like the sprinkler controller and a few smart plugs.

That said, I'd like to hear a little bit about best practices for a new home. Is it best to create a brand new one from scratch and delete the old one, or is it best to "keep" my old home since I am using the same router and wifi SSID so those devices I am taking over would connect? I guess I would just delete the items that are no longer there. But do I need to do anything to update the actual location of the home to make sure geofencing works?

I am VERY likely overthinking this, but I thought I would ask the experts :)

Thanks!
