My Chamberlain / Lift Master MyQ Home Bridge Setup - The best solution - the MyQ app is not used at all in the process and can be deleted.

Cupertino, January 3, 2024

Hello everyone... first of all F myQ. Chamberlin, who owns the majority of garage door openers, decided not to play nice with smart home integration in their smart garage door opener. They force the consumer to use the MyQ app so they can push ads for their products and retrieve consumer data. The company at one point, as a mea culpa for not making their devices HomeKit compatible (as they had originally announced), created the MyQ Home Hub which is HomeKit friendly. BUT... they never give you instructions on how to set it up, and now that they don't make them anymore, the MyQ app doesn't support adding the device. But fear not fellow Apple HomeKit smart home makers, Chamberlain has accidentally created an amazing device that works and allows you to completely bypass the MyQ software. Delete that toxic app from your phone now. Steps 1. Reset your garage door WiFi. (Differs depending on the garage door) 2. Reset the Home Bridge device (press the settings button for 10 seconds) 3. Set up the Home Bridge with the Home Kit. Use the code provided on your device. 4. If possible, force the hub to a 2.5GHz WiFi signal 6. Press the "1" button twice on the Home Bridge 7. Press the Learn button on the garage door 9. You should see a new door of the garage to appear in HomeKit. (You may need to press the "1" button again after pressing the learn button, you will see flashing lights on the garage door when you are successful 10. Delete the MyQ app. There can only be one. This device is only available in the market secondary. It is not related to the MyQ app and can be used with a MyQ WiFi garage opener.
