Hey guys,
Lately I’ve become so paranoid about smart home companies eventually going out of business/switching to subscription models.
So yesterday I decided to prevent my Tado AC controllers from accessing the internet and use them locally via HomeKit only.
So on my router I turned off internet access for my Tado, and for a little while everything was fine. The Tado app wasn’t working of course but I could still see the temp and control them fine via HomeKit.
Until a few hours later, when all of a sudden the devices became unreachable in HomeKit! I checked the display on the Tado unit itself and it was displaying “E04” -meaning unable to reach Tado servers.
I rebooted, and once more my Tado appeared in HomeKit and worked fine for a few hours, before again the error E04 appeared and my devices turned into paperweights.
My understanding is that a *requirement* of Apples HomeKit certification is that the devices must remain working locally in HomeKit only mode.
Is anyone else seeing this?
