Naming strategies

Cupertino, January 10, 2022

Move to a new house next weekend. I've been in a HomeKit for almost three years. Although Apple doesn't seem to care about improving HomeKit at all, I just have too much money and devices to start over. I hope that the problem will improve the experience and that the new devices that will appear will increase the experience. However, until then, I'm trying to figure out ways to improve my HomeKit experience now that I have a chance to start over in a new home. One is the name of the rooms / devices. I currently have each room named and each device assigned and named by the room / room in which it is located. But simple things, like two HomePods close together, but in different rooms, can lead to frustrating user experiences. I'm trying to decide if I can group everything into one room on the floor, but I use the name in a more strategic way, maybe there can be a reward. For example, all the lights on the main floor will be the same "room" instead of the living room / kitchen / dining room / TV lounge / breakfast room, and by putting all HomePod minis in the same "room", I should not receive feedback if the kitchen homepod is the one that turns off the lights in the living room, even if they are in different rooms. I wondered why this could be an improvement. I know the camera interface will be worthless, but I usually use the homepage for anything. And as long as Siri is stupid, I think these kinds of solutions are necessary.
