Hi all! We just bought a house and are looking to include smart technology. I was wondering if anyone can explain how all this works and what are the benefits of using HomeKit?
We already have a smart thermostat (ecobee, if it matters) and install smart dimmers, both with their own applications. I would imagine that using HomeKit would eliminate the need for proper applications?
I also saw some elements that say we can use the speakerphone for home, Apple TV or an iPad that has always been plugged in at home to claim as a hub. Is this always necessary or only for certain accessories? We have no interest in using Siri, nor do we use it on other devices.
All we have is Macs, phones, laptops, iPads, watches, TVs, but this is the first time we've managed to get into the smart home and I'm overwhelmed.
