In this week's episode of AppleInsider Podcast, your hosts discuss the new features in iOS 15.2, including Child Safety in Messages, talk about Apple's announcement that it could be "Sherlocking" Jamf with its own business device management program, and more.

Apple has released the second beta of iOS 15.2, revealing new features, including old contacts, Child Safety in Messaging and Application Privacy Support. Old contacts will allow users to specify certain people who have access to their iCloud data after death, while App Privacy Support will reveal which apps have used a device microphone, a camera, and accessed external URLs.

Child safety in messaging was originally scheduled to be launched with CSAM earlier this fall, but Apple has chosen to launch these features separately. Child safety in messages has also eliminated the ability for parents to receive notification if sensitive photos are sent or received by an iCloud account for children.

Apple Business Essentials was announced this week, which will give small and large businesses an option to manage mobile devices directly from Apple. Third-party services, such as Jamf, have provided large-scale business device management of all sizes, but Apple's offering will include previously inaccessible features. The program is scheduled to launch fully in the spring of 2022, with a free beta now available for users approved for the program.

Our hosts discuss the new 14-inch MacBook Pro and some of the accessories compatibility challenges when upgrading. Buyers waiting for their custom orders for the new MacBook Pro models could still wait a few weeks as companies like Uber and Twitter equip their teams of application developers with fully loaded M1 Max computers.
