New member: looking for recycling throughout the new housing system - security, smoke alarms, etc.

Cupertino, October 6, 2021

Hi everyone, I just bought a new house and I'm happy to be chosen to start with a blank slate and build a smart home. Right now I've been dealing with a mix of different systems that I've added to the condo over time and none of them work with Homekit out of the box: an ADT alarm system, a bell, a Nest thermostat and others - network smoke alarms. All of this stays here when we move, so I'd love to receive recommendations on what to install in the new home. I'm pretty green with Homekit in general (only my LGTV appears in the app), so if I need some kind of hub or a bit of coding for things to work properly, please fill me in! Right now I'm looking at: * An alarm system with door and window sensors. (I'm not sure if I want 24-hour monitoring; I've never had a reason to use them to beat wood, but if it's cheap enough, I'll continue with it). * Yard motion sensors with lights * At least a smart smoke alarm or smoke + CO2. * Bell / room with front porch * Smart stopwatch with sprinklers * Smart lights (I can do this on the road, the other elements are more priority. Again, I'm pretty new in all this, so I'm open to anything I recommend. is currently I have a Netgear Orbi wifi system (which I will use with the Spectrum cable), an AppleTV 4K and a QNAP NAS that has a certain video recording capability.I can also run CAT6 all over the house, in addition to the network mesh TIA!
