New router before and after ....... PSA w velop

Cupertino, December 20, 2019

I hope this helps others .......
Powerful homekit user with over 50 devices, but not very experienced. ISP is currently on spectrum and pays 400mb and uses their modem and router. The frequencies always seemed good, and WiFi coverage was not a problem in the yard either, but like many other devices they did not respond. I never realized a rationalization of why. My system was manic 24x7. It would also have random problems using constant Airplay2, the automation would fight ..... all the shit we see on this page would happen. Certainly, I felt that this is what is omekit ... some kind of functions some of the time, but they just aren't very solid.

I've been watching routers ever since the "homekit" road news "turned on" thinking I would buy one when they released the software. I found a good deal online for the Linksys fly net and decided to pull the trigger.

It was very easy to install, but still had problems. I made sure I kept the same network name and password. The technical support sent me back and after hours on the phone they told me that my unit is bad and sent me a new one. Test two had similar problems, but ended up splitting signals 2.4 and 5 with different names and putting everything on 2.4. It had some devices that struggled at the beginning and reset them as needed.

After the first two days, all my problems were resolved. Hit the wood, but my shit seems stable. Automation works, AirPlay2 works even while streaming a movie, all rooms are invigorating and go live when you click. Speed tests are similar before and after, but now I haven't had an unanswered device. I'm trying to open the open homekit on the cell, iPad and Mac trying to find a device that needs some TLC, but everything is solid.

Long time / short, so happy that I upgraded my router. I know everyone has unique sets and sometimes this feels more art than science, but for me, changing my router has improved my happiness w omekit dramatically. Keep the faith! Hopefully my next post doesn't backtrack on all of this

It doesn't suggest velop per se, but if you have a dated router or ISP provided, it might make sense to invest in a new one.

Welcome your feedback especially regarding the router settings I should look at / play with.

Happy celebrations!
