Newbie question about the Logitech doorbell

Cupertino, February 2, 2024

I'm dipping my toes into automation, but FYI I have two minis and have an Apple TV this week. After reading all the messages on the bells, I decided to go with Logitech, but I have a quick question. Does it use your existing doorbell? More info for those who want it: I'm connecting the doorbell to an old Nutone intercom system we installed in our new house in 2007. There's a guy who made videos on how to do this with a Nest Hello. It sells a small relay board that allows the two devices to be connected. He has some very long videos on YouTube showing how to wire up the relay board. I called him to ask if he's done this with other doorbells, but he said he's only tested it with the Nest Hello. However, he said it should work with any doorbell that will activate a mechanical doorbell. (What he actually said was "if the bell rings for you, it will work." He's a character.) He said he's sold thousands of them, so I hope this works, and I think it will be as long as Logitech will make an existing mechanical doorbell work ding-dong.
