Occupancy sensor for loft AC

Cupertino, October 5, 2021

I have an upstairs loft that is infrequently occupied and is on its own AC unit/ecobee thermostat. Currently I have it set up with its own occupancy sensor to set the temp to 78 when not occupied and to 74 when occupied. Unfortunately ecobees built in sensor doesn’t work very well as the sensor isn’t aimed ideally and there’s 2 rooms upstairs.

I am using multiple Aqara motion sensors to control homebridge occupancy sensors/lights in garage/laundry room/hallway. Would this be my best solution to automate the AC as well? If the upstairs is in use it’s typically to watch tv so there’s not much movement. There’s also a guest bedroom so I need a way to easily disable/override the AC automation as well when we have guests

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
