If you are using an Eero router, you will want this.

Following Apple's announcement at WWDC 2019 that HomeKit will be supported by routers from Eero, Linksys and Charter Spectrum, Eero on Monday, Eero today released an update for its Eero and Eero Pro routers, bringing them to version 3.18. The release notes for the update are relatively inaccurate, highlighting "customer data accuracy improvements" and "system stability improvements".

Apparently, the update also looks like a preliminary support for HomeKit.

After an update to the latest firmware, Eero and Eero Pro appear in the Home app as add-on accessories. Unfortunately, because there is currently no valid configuration code for HomeKit, the Home application presents an error and states that Eero routers cannot be added to HomeKit, warning that Eero routers are still "not certified" at this time.

According to version 3.17 of the Eero firmware, the Eero routers were invisible to the Home application as nearby accessories. Version 3.18 seems to indicate that progress is being made to this end.

Apple says HomeKit routers will provide security benefits, such as the ability to bypass accessories, preventing them from accessing the entire network. "Improve security by monitoring the activity of your home accessory network and preventing unsafe connections," says Apple.

Apple's site is currently listing Eero, Eero Pro and Linksys Velop as the three routers expected to add HomeKit support in the future.

Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
