Onelink Safe and Sound update adds support for AirPlay 2

Cupertino, January 26, 2020

First Alert has launched a new firmware update that adds AirPlay 2 to the Onelink Safe and Sound carbon monoxide and smoke detector. AirPlay 2 support enables multi-camera audio playback that stays in sync across all devices, making Onelink a convenient way to keep tunes flowing throughout the home.

To enable AirPlay 2 on Safe & Sound, you will need Firmware Version 1.04.32 or higher. This version will be automatically pushed to customers in an automatic update of the air firmware (OTA).

Safe and Sound owners can locate the latest feature in the Onelink Home application if their hardware has been upgraded to the firmware version 01/04/32. Within the app, users will now see a new option, AirPlay 2 installation, in the Safe and Sound settings panel below Product information portion.

Once AirPlay 2 has been configured, OneLink Safe and Sound should now appear alongside other AirPlay 2 devices in the Control Center or through the AirPlay menu in audio and video applications. OneLink Safe and Sound can also now be added as a speaker in the iOS Home app, allowing it to work within HomeKit automation and scenes.

Our favorite VPN service is now more accessible than ever

AirPlay 2 support adds even more to the long list of Safe and Sound features, including smoke and carbon monoxide detection, HomeKit integration, night light and a microphone that gives it Amazon Alexa functionality. Although its speaker cannot be compared to offers like Apple's HomePod, the convenience of Onelink Safe and Sound can make a solid choice for all home audio.
