You have a very old smoke detector at the top of my stairs, which just started the dreaded low battery beep and made me wonder if I should consider replacing it with a Homekit smoke detector. I watched a few reviews on YouTube and read some blog posts, but I was looking for general feedback from anyone who used Onelink Smart Smoke + Carbon Monoxide. And / or any other recommendations for a Homekit smoke detector. It is wired and $ 120 at Lowe's. The most common complaint I've seen so far is that it was difficult to initially install Homekit and has a sync / connection issue with several similar units that should connect, so if we detect an alert , triggers other. I might find it useful, given that you can automate / customize sounds / alerts / lights, and you can think of many automations, from sound / light alerts for a ringtone to being a motion detection alarm on night time for security etc.
