Hi r/HomeKit, I'm wondering if the community has any good recommendations for HomeKit compatible wireless outdoor security cameras? Battery power is a must because I rent the house I live in. Having HKSV and solar charging is a nice bonus. After doing my own research, I've come to the conclusion that the only cameras that really fit my criteria are the Eufy gen-2 cameras (at least for the secure video part). I know Arlo has outdoor cameras that do HomeKit, but I think that's the extent of it. I can't remember if they are battery powered and the way Arlo is pushing their subscription services is kind of a turn off. I watched a few YouTube videos talking about the state of HKSV and one argument that resonated with me is that I shouldn't limit my hardware experience just because of software limitations. For example, there are a lot of good cameras out there and saying I can't use them because they don't have HomeKit or HKSV is kind of gross. I went ahead and purchased a Eufycam 3 4 camera bundle from Amazon because they are pretty nice cameras and I liked that you can bring your own storage drive to the base station. I'm aware of the privacy issue that came up with Eufy a few years ago, but it doesn't bother me that much. Also, I know Eufy *claims* that HomeKit support will eventually come to gen-3 cameras, but I'm not holding my breath. If anyone knows of anyone who has had success using Homebridge or something similar for these cameras, I'd be willing to consider it. I say success because all the googling I've done only brings up threads where people have had trouble connecting the base station 3 and associated cameras. I don't have any Homebridge gear at the moment, but I have enough experience with command line environments that I can hook it up pretty easily. I guess the point of this post is to either get validation of the decision I made, or a recommendation in case I missed something worth looking into. Any constructive input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
