On the AppleInsider podcast this week, Apple announces pre-orders for the Apple Watch Series 7, unfortunately we have to test AppleCare + for the new iPad mini, plus we remember Steve Jobs on the 10th anniversary of his death.

During a recent shoot with pilot Scott Oglesby, our iPad mini fell out of the cockpit. The tumble caused damage to the body and the iPad mini display, which, on the bright side, gave us an unexpected chance to test the AppleCare + experience with this new device.

Then, Apple announced the availability of the Apple Watch Series 7 on October 15, with pre-orders starting October 8. It was a strange announcement, as virtually no price or configuration specifications were disclosed.

Even though the Apple Watch Series 7 has no new health sensors and no sports, the CPU came like last year's model, the images that appeared on a post on Facebook show the larger screen size and the lower frames of the device.

Apple has also revealed that the latest iOS 15.1 beta version brings ProRes video recoding to the iPhone 13 Pro. This update also adds a much-desired switch to turn off macro mode so that the iPhone doesn't accidentally switch to the Ultra Wide camera.

Users will have to wait until iOS 15.1 comes out of beta to get that switch, but the popular Halide app has already brought us ProRes. An update to their app with a new macro mode also gives users even more granular control of the iPhone 13 Pro camera.

Speaking of adding features, a recent firmware update for AirPods Pro and AirPods Max offers more support for Apple headphones. Users can now initiate Lost mode, which will prevent other users from pairing AirPods with their device, and Bluetooth-enabled location support will help users track AirPods Pro and AirPods Max when they are nearby.

Finally, we can't ignore how October 5 marked the 10th anniversary of Steve Jobs' death. Apple has produced a tribute video, now available on their YouTube channel, and we're talking about the impact Jobs had on our lives.
