Question about timed shutdown of devices using the homebridge manikin switch

Cupertino, January 31, 2021

Say I have a device called "X" and I'm using the homebridge-dummy plugin to create a status switch called "X Timer". Is it excessive to configure the following three automations in the Home application? 1. when X starts, turn on X-Timer; stop after 10 minutes. 2. when X stops, turn off X-Timer. 3. when the X-Timer stops, turn off the X. Although it looks like all the corner housings would be covered by the above, I'm afraid my automation list will become pretty careless if I start applying more than one hand of lights.
