Questions about the Shelly HomeKit light switch (or a better alternative to the smart switch)

Cupertino, July 6, 2021

I soon leave my apartment and plan to arrange most of the rooms in a new house (UK, but there is neutral wire) with regular light bulbs and Shellys behind the lighting switches. I've had Hue bulbs for over 5 years, but I hate how expensive they are and that they can't be controlled with existing light switches, so it seems like a good solution. I know Philips now has a Hue wall module, but it would be much cheaper to fit the house with Shellys and regular light bulbs than it would be to buy enough Hue wall lamps and modules. I know Shellys can't control smart light bulbs properly, so I either sell Hue bulbs or I just have them in rooms with a tinted wall module. I have a few questions that I haven't been able to find answers to and I hope someone here with real world experience can help: ** 1. If I flash Shellys (most likely a combination of Shelly 1s and 2.5s) with the firmware " official ”Mongoose HomeKit, can they still be found and added to Alexa? ** I use Alexa and Home to control my Hue lights at some point, and my fiancée uses only the Home app, so any solution we use must be compatible with both systems. ** 2. Once added to the HomeKit (and hopefully Alexa), can they be listed as lights so I can use phrases like "turn on the living room lights" or should I say something like "turn on the living room switch"? ** ** 3. Once added to the HomeKit, can they be added to automations, programming, and remote triggers, just like any other HomeKit device? ** I think about things like turning on the outside lights when I get home, associating Shelly with my Hue motion sensor to turn on when motion is detected, things like that If this setup doesn't work, someone might recommend another system that to allow me to control all my lights while having functional light switches Smart light switches would be much simpler and preferable than squeezing a load of Shellys behind regular switches, but at £ 60, Lightwave RF is too expensive and I have not seen any smart switch compatible HomeKit 2 or 3 toggle options, as would be necessary in some parts of the house, or with bidirectional compatibility in which the lights could be controlled from one of the two switches , which is the case in other parts of the house. There are many, so thank you if you got this far! TL; DR 3 questions about Shellys or, alternatively, which is the best smart switch compatible HomeKit, which also comes in 2/3 rocker options and is not Lightwave RF. Thank you!
