I have some Onvis motion sensors and smart thermostatic valves for the radiators. In order to automate a heating program, I try to work out the best logic to make sure that the rooms are heated only when they are occupied. Clearly, I can set an automation so that when motion is detected, the heating starts for an hour. As long as I move a little within an hour, that heating will continue to work. However, it also occurs to me that automation could be stopped if it does not detect movement at that time. This means that I may have a general heating program, which is canceled if the room does not get used to it. Example of work; On most working days, I want my study to be at a pleasant temperature when I'm on duty at 8 in the morning. If I decide to have a day off and don't use it, I don't want to have to remember to stop it for that day. Instead, I could add an automation that turns off the heating at 8:30 if the room is not occupied. Yes, I wasted a little energy to raise the temperature in the first place, but not so much. It also means that entering a room for a few minutes to bring something does not trigger an hour of heating. Does anyone have any ideas or advice? Things I didn't consider?
