I have a dual-band router that allows me to either share them (different SSIDs) or use "band direction" which has a single SSID and the devices connect to the most suitable. It's a smart Telstra Arcadyan modem (which probably just means something to Australians). All my HomeKit devices (Meross smart plugs and Yeelight bulbs) are only 2.4 ghz wifi, which is fine. However, I want my iPhone and MacBook to be on the 5 ghz band. If I enabled bandwidth, all devices connect to the best bandwidth (so my iPhone, Mac, HomePod are all on 5ghz and smart devices are on 2.4ghz) - great! Except I can't control any of the smart devices. They all appear as Not responding in the home app, which is not good. If I separate the SSIDs on the tape and put my iPhone on 2.4ghz, then all smart devices work through the home application. My question is: is there a wifi router that can properly handle this dual-band scenario? I mean: 2.4 ghz smart devices and 5 ghz iPhone and everything still works? I read a few posts on this topic, but I did not see this specified. Can anyone confirm who (if there are wifi routers) handles this? Thanks
