Schlage could work on a smart lock with Apple Home Key support

Cupertino, December 18, 2021

The Apple Wallet app lets you store things like membership cards, boarding passes, and more. However, with iOS 15, Apple has begun to allow it to store digital keys that you can use with hotels that support this feature.

However, if you don't plan to stay at a hotel soon, but want a digital key, then Schlage might have something for you. on the HomeDepot website (which has since been removed) which suggests a future Schlage smart lock that will accept digital keys for Apple Home.

The device, according to the list on HomeDepot, seems to be known as Schlage Encode Plus. Assuming the list is correct, this may be the first HomeKit compatible smart lock available to consumers that will accept the Apple Home Key. While homeKit-enabled smart locks aren't new, the home key holder is.

Based on the image, there will be several options for the user to unlock their door. There is a standard method that uses a physical key. There is also a numeric keypad that allows you to enter a password and also support digital keys. Implementing digital keys is useful because it means you can give someone access to your home even when you're away.

It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. CES 2022 is coming soon.
