Schlage Encode Plus Pairing Woes

Cupertino, July 27, 2023

I purchased one locally at Home Depot one week ago. Physical installation went great, downloaded the Schlage Home app and set it up in Schlage with no issues.

My troubles came trying to get it into HomeKit. I searched and saw the other posts with possible solutions to the lock not being found, tried those and had no success. Turned off the wifi, turned off all the Apple TV 4Ks and HomePod minis, deleted the lock, deleted the Schlage app, turned the wifi back on and the one Apple TV closest to the lock. I reinstalled the app, added the lock again, and the same thing.

After pulling my hair out trying anything and everything I could find, I tried calling Schlage. Waited the 45 minutes on hold and went through all the steps the rep could come up with. The only thing that he had that I don’t remember seeing was telling me to press the button on the lock 3 times and hold for 10 seconds on the third button press right as HomeKit starts pairing with the lock. The result from the best I could tell was a factory reset.

Deleted my HomePods, deleted the Apple home app, tried with another device and his final conclusion was it’s a problem with my HomeKit. I would be willing to accept that if I hadn’t added another device with no issues after trying everything I could find for the Schlage.

At this point I’m ready to order the U100 and return the Schlage. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions?
