I started with a Hue bulb and now I would like to have a very simple HomeKit compatible button to turn the light on and off. When you press the button, I want the light to come on, and if you press it again while the light is on, I want it to go out. Very basic functionality. But, I'm surprised to find that this is not as easy as you might think. I bought a smart Hue button because it seemed like the simplest possible accessory to achieve this. But, I found that the Hue app is very prescriptive and wants you to set five different behavior modes associated with the button. I was so surprised to find that I can't delete these five ways to make it a very simple on / off button. What is the easiest way to achieve basic on / off functionality with a hardware accessory? I don't want a dimmer, I want a single button to turn the light on or off.
