Smart lighting options for recessed boxes in a new construction configuration?

Cupertino, June 2, 2021

We are remodeling our kitchen, which will be open in our living room. Our living room already has smart lighting and I would like to do the same in the kitchen, so that, theoretically, they both have the same lighting. Unfortunately, this is more complicated than I thought it would be. We have Hue in the living room, and the built-in Hue cans are "modernized", which are not really designed for new constructions (they go above the ceiling instead of the back, as a new box would do). Are there other options you are aware of? Does anyone work alone on this?
