So frustrated that HomeKit now knows no one is home. Maybe it's time to switch to Smart Outlets or something?

Cupertino, October 20, 2020

I've posted about this before, just like others. I have two of the Aqara G2H cameras to keep an eye on my cats. The rooms work great! They are configured in HK mode only with HKSV. The only problem, they are never other than to detect movement! HK just refuses to believe that no one is home, even when no one is home!

This means that in order to see the cats, I have to open the camera, open the settings and change the "setting when I am at home" in Stream and Record. There are a lot of steps and I have to remember to change it.

I'm seriously thinking of highlighting it and getting smarter outlets. I could set them to light up when the last person leaves and stop when someone gets home. In addition, if this setup fails, switching to sockets is faster and easier than changing the camera settings. However, I do not use motion detection when people are at home.

Does anyone have a better solution? Anyone know of a solid, cheap smart outlet that has USB ports that you can control?
