Solution to stop Siri from turning on/off lights with Philips Hue

Cupertino, January 22, 2024

# TD;LR Hue updated their app that broke the official Hue shortcuts. If Siri stops responding to Hue commands and you're using the official Hue shortcuts, then delete the shortcuts and add them again. # Problem I googled for a solution and didn't find anything, so I'm leaving it here for future users who come from google searches around this problem. For some reason, probably an update to the Hue app (version 5.8.0, January 16, 2024), Siri stopped turning Hue lights on/off. # Set up my HomePod is the bridge and I used the Hue app to add official shortcuts to the Shortcuts app titled "Turn off the lights" and "Turn on the lights". On iPhone and HomePod, Siri would turn all lights on/off correctly. # Solution If you're having this problem and have the same setup, when I tried a bunch of things and here's what worked: * Open the Shortcuts app * Delete the official Hue shortcuts * Create a new shortcut * Search actions for Hue * Add the action desired * Edit the name and enter the desired name * Close the shortcut Use Siri and say the name of the shortcut you created. It should start working again. Finally, if you are using the old Hue shortcuts in other shortcuts, then you need to delete the old Hue shortcuts from them and add them back.
