Somfy RTS Automation with Siri

Cupertino, April 12, 2020

I have a motorized pergola that looks [this](https://pergolatenteyapimi-files-wordpress-com.cdn.ampproject.org/i/s/pergolatenteyapimi.files.wordpress.com/2017/09/pergole-tente.jpg) (same model, this is a photo by stock ).

The only option to automate integrated retractable input and dark LED lights was a Somfy RTS system, which is not compatible with HomeKit.

I got sick of doing it separately and, as I understand it, RTS will never support HomeKit because it does not report back to the system. But you can get a Somfy myLink RTS transmitter and connect it to IFTTT. I already had myLink configured in IFTTT to close the pergola at midnight, to avoid the dew on the outdoor furniture, to shut off the rain and to extinguish and extinguish the lights at times similar to the dusk / dawn routines I have for landscape lights my. So, the "on demand" desire to integrate with Siri was missing.

I wanted a trigger from Siri when I went out at night to the hot tub, which killed all the landscape lights and the pergola lights and opened the pergola so I could enjoy the stars.

The solution I came up with is to connect myLink to IFTTT.

1. Routines have been created using webhooks in IFTTT to send the correct command to myLink.
2. I created a simple shortcut that called webhook URLs to turn off the pergola lights, to open the pergola, and also triggered a scene we already had, which turned off the other exterior lights.
3. Created a simple shortcut that closed the pergola and returned to the lights (web hooks and scene)
4. Created a shortcut that waits 30 seconds (time to enter the whirlpool) calls the shortcut from number 2 above, waits 15 minutes (the length of the whirlpool bath cycle) and then calls the shortcut from number 3 above. This was something I found online and it is quite complicated, because shortcuts do not work with long delays unless you become really hacky.

It's not a perfect solution, but now I don't have to use the RTS remote control or the slow, clumsy myLink app.
