Some iOS 15 or tvOS 15 installations cause problems for users who rely on HomeKit Secure Video, with troubleshooting configurations that use a HomePod as a Home Hub.
AppleInsider failed to reproduce this, but a number of users encountered problems with HomeKit Secure Video. Most say they no longer record videos, but others also say they have trouble recognizing security cameras.
It is not limited to any camera manufacturer. There is a recurring factor that HomePods are used as HomeKit hubs, but it is not conclusive that HomePod or HomePod mini are somehow to blame.
"[Since] updating to iOS 15, my eufy indoor cameras no longer record videos, "says Reddit user badmaj5 in a typical discussion." The last records are from Monday before the update, so now my wife is not happy that I always want to update the new thing when everything worked very well before ".
In this case and apparently most of them, deleting the devices, removing them from the HomeKit and restarting seems to be usually the solution.
"I decided to reset everything," continued badmaj5. "First I removed all the HomePods from my HomeKit and iCloud account. Then I reset the Apple TVs and made a reset and update option and removed them from my iCloud account as well."
The user also removed all the cameras from the HomeKit, before adding back the HomePod "and making sure it appears as a hub". After that and the addition of cameras, more HomePods and so on, "everything works normally again."
It is a cumbersome solution and since there is no clear cause for it, there is no way to be sure that this will fix the problem permanently.
Apple has not yet commented on the reports.
