My current roommate is very territorial in terms of technology (long story), but I will be moving to his own place soon. I helped my aunt and uncle set up HomeKit in their homes and watched the HomeKit news for some time.
I don't think I'll have the ability to replace the switches, sockets or thermostats, but I think I'll start with the security cameras and some smart plugs. I am also open to other suggestions about potential accessories enabled for HomeKit.
As I start from scratch, I'm looking for tips on where to start. I am looking to purchase one of these HomeKit routers and I will probably buy an Apple TV 4K as a hub. I do not have an unlimited budget, but I am willing to pay a little extra if it will take longer and be more reliable.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?
