Stop automation if another is running?

Cupertino, March 23, 2024

Is there a way to pause a second automation from running if another automation is currently running? For example, I have automation set up so that when you turn on the home theater system, it goes through all the settings in my receiver to make sure they are correct. But this process can take 20 seconds or more because of the pauses I had to insert. So the problem is that for some reason the TV etc. turns on, then the startup automations work and then the TV shuts down by triggering. shutdown automation running before boot is complete causes a conflict and my home theater setup stays in a weird state. Yes... I know the easiest solution is to "wait a bit after turning it on" but that approach hasn't worked with others I live with and then I have to fix everything all the time. If I could simply say, "Wait until automation X finishes before running this automation," that would be perfect.
