The Aqara contact sensor does not respond in the Aqara application, but in the Home application it shows that it is working normally. How to fix it?

Cupertino, October 15, 2020

I just got an Aqara G2H camera, which is a homekit camera and a zigbee Aqara hub. And I put the camera in the homekit from the Aqara app. And I paired a contact sensor to the camera / hub using the Aqara app and it works great for normal behavior. The contact sensor appears in Home exactly as you would expect.

But I want to know what it looks like when it fails, so I removed the battery from the contact sensor and waited overnight, and in the Home app, the contact sensor (without the battery) still appears as if it were normally closed. But in the Aqara app, it appears as offline. So obviously the G2h camera / hub detects that it has not heard anything from the contact sensor. Why is this reporting failure not reported to the homekit as an unresponsive sensor?

It's just that the G2H camera / hub doesn't actually calculate anything about the fact that it should have received a status ping from the contact sensor, and the Aqara app downloads a contact log from the camera once the app is launched and passes through (or sends data to China, and a Chinese computer goes through) the messages and then determines that the sensor is not responding?

I think this calculation should happen on Aqara Hub so that it can be shared with Homekit.

I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Is there something I can fix or something Aqara needs to fix?
