I have an ASUS router with an OpenVPN client connected to my VPN provider that routes all traffic via VPN. My Apple TV can, of course, access the internet, stream content, etc., but I can't control Homekit from outside my local network. If I turn off the VPN client on the router, everything works as expected. Does anyone know how I can make my hub work while I connect to the VPN?
