The benefit of locking down HomeKit?

Cupertino, March 17, 2024

So I recently purchased the Yale assure lock 2 plus (Bluetooth) along with Apple's HomePod mini. I have to say, I'm less than impressed with Apple's HomeKit functionality. The only two benefits I see are: i. Home key. ii. Sharing between people who are part of Apple Home. What I don't like: i. Can't manage personal or guest passwords through Apple Home. ii. Automatic unlocking in Apple Home requires confirmation each time. iii. No auto lock. iv. No doorsense integration. I need to use the Yale app to: i. Set up access codes ii. Set up automatic unlocking that doesn't require confirmation. iii. Configure Auto Lock as timer or instant. iv. Doorsense status. So far I'm of the opinion that a home key lock (or HomeKit integration) is worthless because the features offered by the vendor's apps exceed what Apple Home offers. I suppose the only real benefit to the Apple home right now is remote access to my Bluetooth lock. What are some of your thoughts? Am I missing something in terms of an integrated Apple lock?
