The best HomeKit video ringtones for 2021

Cupertino, October 9, 2021

A smart video ringtone can provide a window to the world outside your door even when you're not at home. These ringtones not only work as standalone mini security systems, but some can also be linked to Apple's smart homeKit. HomeKit lets you control your video ringtone and other smart devices at home using the Home or Siri app on an iOS device.

Not only can you control your device, but some ringtone cameras also allow you to store and retrieve videos from iCloud, thanks to the Apple HomeKit Secure Video feature. It is a level of comfort that differentiates these HomeKit compatible devices. Below you will find our options for the best HomeKit video ringtones that you can buy today.

Logitech circle view

Adam Doud / Digital Trends

Logitech's Circle View video ringtone is one of the best HomeKit compatible video ringtones you can buy. Not only does it support the basic remote control features of HomeKit, but it is also the first consumer video sounder to work with HomeKit Secure Video. HomeKit Secure Video lets you stream and record videos from your video device to your iOS device via Home and iCloud. Equipped with a 5 megapixel sensor, the Circle View ringtone can capture HD videos with HDR for enhanced quality in difficult lighting conditions.

It also has a respectable 160-degree field of view for head-to-toe viewing, so you can see who's at your door and easily see the packages on the floor. The biggest detractor is its 3: 4 ratio which limits the side view, making it difficult to view items or people on the periphery. Those with a small entrance will not notice this narrow field of view, but it can be a problem for those with a porch or a wide entrance to their home. Arlo Video Doorbell

Arlo Video Doorbell.

Video Doorbell from Arlo stands out for its intelligent detection, which can distinguish between people, animals, cars and packages. It lets you know exactly who or what is at your door - is it the person who delivers an exclusive signed package, your neighbor's cat, or your best friend who unexpectedly gives up food? Arlo video support also reduces false alerts from people or cars just passing by. The video ringtone offers a clear and clear HD quality stream, with a wide viewing angle of 180 degrees and a 1: 1 square aspect ratio, which reduces blind spots. You can see both what is in front and on the side of the door.

It also has a two-way sound, so you can talk to the person waiting at your door. If you want to use HomeKit, you must also have Arlo Smart Hub, which adds complexity to the system and is an additional expense. The system also does not support HomeKit Secure Video. You need to open the Arlo mobile app to review any videos, a disadvantage we noticed in our review.

Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell

Netatmo Doorbell mounted on brick.

Smart Video Doorbell from Netatmo offers an integrated storage solution that allows you to store up to 32 GB of video on the camera itself. The attractive-looking ringtone streams 1080P HD quality videos with a 140-degree field of view. Netatmo's line of smart cameras now supports HomeKit Secure Video from Apple, thanks to an upgrade launched earlier this year.

Although smart cameras integrate into a secure video, Netatmo Smart Video Doorbell only supports basic HomeKit features. We hope that Netatmo will soon release secure video support. Other key features include bidirectional sound, night vision and integration with existing cables and ringtones. Find out what we like and what we don't like in our full review.

Yobi B3

Yobi B3 video ringtone on the wall.

Yobi may not have Logitech brand recognition, but the company has some experience in video camera technology. The B3 video ringtone is created by the people behind the popular iBaby baby monitor previously sold in Apple retail stores. The B3 builds on that architecture, picking up audio detection and two-way motion from the baby monitor and wrapping it in a ringer unit. The ringtone is extremely fast, with 1080P HD video and a 180 degree wide field of view.

It integrates with Apple HomeKit and does not require another app or Yobi account to work. It's not as full of features as the other video ringtones on our list, so don't expect to see facial recognition or discrimination between a person, a pet, or a package. Yobi B3 may be a decent video sound, but it has an obvious omission. Although it is compatible with HomeKit, it does not support local or cloud video recording. You can take a real-time look at the door to see if someone is hijacking your package, but you can't examine any records stored from a theft earlier in the day.
