The best way to integrate Liftmaster garage door openers into HomeKit

Cupertino, October 6, 2021

I'm looking to add the possibility of having my garage door openers available in the HomeKit. I will have two different types of openers and I am trying to find the best way to integrate. If I understand correctly, I will either need MyQ Home Bridge or I need to run a MyQ plugin in Homebridge. If this is correct, then I will use the Homebridge plugin for MyQ. I would also like to confirm that once all openers are connected to MyQ / WiFi, then they will work with the Homebridge Plugin? & # x200B; The first two are the Liftmaster 8500 openers, I think they are compatible with MyQ / WiFi via the button (889LM) and all I have to do is add them to the MyQ app and running the Homebridge plugin will make them appear in the HomeKit. The other two openers I want to connect are the Liftmaster 3255 openers and MyQ / WiFi is not enabled. I think there are two options here. 1) get the 821LMC-S smart garage controller with an additional sensor or 2) get two MyQ 889LM control panels to replace the existing buttons to add MyQ functionality. After configuration, the openers will reappear in the HomeKit via the Homebridge plugin. If there is another way or another way to go about it, I would like to hear about it. Thanks for your input and other suggestions.
