I have a ductless air conditioner behind my house. Ever since I first moved, I've been upset that the ductless unit doesn't have even the most basic smart features, such as time and temperature-based programming. Can you imagine if the central AC didn't have a thermostat and only worked when you turned it on manually? The mere thought of this is absolutely ridiculous and so frustrating is to have a pipe-free unit like the one in my house. Fortunately, a few quick Google searches revealed that there are plenty of smart controllers for air conditioners to add missing key features to AC units and windows.

Over the years, I had tried a few different smart AC controllers, and some worked better than others. Eventually I landed on one that was decent, but still didn't work as intended 100% of the time. It also didn't integrate easily into my smart home setup, so there's a lot of great automation I was missing out on. Then, luckily, a company called Sensibo contacted me and asked if I wanted to test Sensibo Air intelligent air conditioning controller.

This simple gadget is the missing link that will pull window-mounted AC or pipeless AC in the modern era. It is very easy to set up and install and allows you to control your AC unit with your smartphone instead of manual controls on the unit or with an old remote control.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg.

The best part is that Sensibo Air intelligent air conditioning controller is compatible with HomeKit and other smart home platforms. This means that the possibilities are truly limitless! For example, I use SmartThings as my smart home hub and I managed to set up some great automations with Sensibo Air.

For example, I set it so that when a motion detector in my upstairs hallway detects movement between 6:00 and 7:00, that is, when I wake up, it automatically turns on the heat on my unit. And, of course, once the winter weather is gone and the summer heat has arrived, I will change things so that AC starts. It's so cool!

The Sensibo app also has a lot of smart rules that you can set based on things like temperature, humidity, and even your geolocation, plus of course you can set up time-based appointments. It is truly a wonderful gadget that is a must-have for anyone using an air conditioner without ducts or AC power for windows. There are also two different versions - the main one and a the second option that comes with its own motion detector if you want those smart features, but don't use a smart home system.
