Tottenham Hotspur’s home kit has leaked for next season.

Cupertino, February 17, 2020

It's about that time of year when all the major leaks in the kit start to happen. Tottenham Hotspur's Nike partnership has left fans wanting more creativity, notably because of Nike's insistence on using basic templates for each club that offers kits.

A few weeks ago, there was a certain hope that Nike had removed the templates, which means that each club's projects will be unique. This is good! Under Armor may not have offered Spurs many full-size Brinks trucks, as Nike does every year, but their kits have been wonderful, with very few exceptions. Certainly Nike could bring us some beautiful things now, when their creative minds have freedom, right?

Yeah, about that ...

Here is the supposed home kit, brought to you by the best in the business when it comes to kit leaks itself, Footy Headlines:

So that's for sure. I didn't come up with the words to really describe my thoughts, so let's just talk about good and bad.

The best part of this is the collar. That collar is great. I like the gold lining with it and it works. After that, the lightning is a bit generous, matching the style of the collar. It's a nice twist and it shows that Nike is trying to break away from cake cutting designs.

The main problem I have with this kit is the use of digital camo and terrible sleeves. I don't hate the digital camo. I think they should be saved for kits or kits. Finally, the home kit should be a clean look. Give me the solid white kit with the sleeves that are the same and you will have a stew when paired with the collar and lightning. Instead, we get sleeves that look like they were taken from Create-a-school option in NCAA football and the digital camo that just doesn't look good with white.

The Nike partnership was really successful and it would have given me almost anything to go back in time and actually have Under Under Armor to push our brand and match the money that Nike gives Spurs. However, there is no universe in which this happens. Nike are a global power, and Spurs needs a global brand to push international revenue further. To be fair, it works. I see more Tottenham brands all the time, so Nike is at the end of the fair when it comes to advertising.

That being said, I'm generally subject to this kit. Maybe I'm a little harsh. Maybe it will grow on me as other kits have, like those black and yellow Under Armor kits that I pushed out that I initially despised. We know the starter kit should be green, and the third kit is bright yellow, although I haven't seen the actual designs for those yet.

What are your thoughts on this kit?
