I bought the Level Lock+ a month back. First HomeKey enabled lock so I was pretty excited. HomeKit setup was a bit janky, turns out adding the lock via the app doesn’t enable HomeKit correctly. I had to delete the lock and re-add it from the Home app.
From the beginning, I noticed the lock always took several slaps of my watch/phone to pickup the home key signal. Sometimes it took well over a minute to unlock. Not very comforting for those who want to go keyless.
I finally saw an Encode Plus in stock at my local Home Depot so I jumped on the opportunity and bought it and installed it. Night and day difference. The Encode Plus is fast and accurately picks up my watch or phone every time. It was also nice to see it working with Thread right away, which should offer me better battery life.
I really liked the discrete look of the level lock but its inconsistent connectivity and response to my HomeKey was a deal breaker. Has anyone else experience this? Happy I made this swap right before my Amazon return window ended.
