tvOS 14: HomeKit automation converted to shortcut does not start playback on HomePod.

Cupertino, September 18, 2020

Hi all,

now with tvOS 14 being public, I would like to ask if any of you could test the following scenario (HomePod required).

1. Increase automation with any trigger (such as time) and convert it to shortcut.
2. Select HomePod as your device and choose any music or radio station
3. Save and let it run

For me, HomePod starts playing, but instead of whatever I selected earlier in the automation, it only plays what I heard earlier. It completely ignores the selected music in automation.

Can you confirm this? I reported this to Apple during beta with each beta. It is not fixed yet.

Edit: Yesterday Apple pushed the beta version of tvOS 14.2, it still doesn't work.
