Using a smart Hue connector with HomeKit in a "Tradfri environment"

Cupertino, May 26, 2020

Hello, I'm new to the smart home and HomeKit, starting with a few IKEA bulbs and a Tradfri bridge a few weeks ago.

Seeing as I like to have the lights controlled by Siri, I would like to add a few lights using a smart connector. Annoyingly, the IKEA tradfri smart plug is not available in Germany. So I thought I'd get a smart Philips Hue connector.

So my question is: can I get a Philips Hue smart connector connected to the HomeKit without a Philips Hue bridge? I bring it with Bluetooth, can I connect it to HomeKit with this? Or, alternatively, will I be able to connect it to my Tradfri bridge? I understand they both use the Zigbee standard. Maybe there is a different solution?

Does anyone have experience with this type of configuration? I would like some advice. Thanks!
