We enjoyed some time for Homekit to play nicely with the Eufy Cam 2 Pro. Notifications blocked until I open the Home app, battery charging is sacrificed, hub anomalies, other sacrifices ...

Cupertino, December 6, 2021

I'm really struggling here to stay calm, because that should work. 1. At this time, notifications are triggered only when I open the Home app and select a room. Only then do I spam all the notifications I haven't received during the day, making Homekit useless in order to notify me when a person is detected in any timely or usable way. 2. I started charging the battery 100% yesterday. Today they are at 78% 3. The Homekit Hub likes to jump randomly through my various Apple TVs and Homepod devices as the active one connected. Unfortunately, when the active hub is one of the Homepods, I completely lose the Homekit / Eufycam registration / notification / timeline, so I always have to look for switching the hub and force it manually (by disconnecting the Homepods) the hub to land on one of the 2 ATVs. 4. Paid for Eufycam 2 Pro which offers 2k video resolution, but using Homekit you only get the functionality of the non-pro version. (This is my fault. I should have researched this before making the purchase. Although, to be fair, I don't think it's wrong to assume that when a camera is advertised as compatible with Homekit and is 2k, This is what you get. I now know that Homekit only supports 1080p videos. is it triggered correctly? (Short of sensitivity settings and other more preference-based settings) This just needs to work properly before going into optimization. All I see is a bunch of random, anecdotal stories about what a person did to make everything work on the internet. I would love for all of this to work properly, but from now on I think I can only tune this configuration for another day or two before giving up HKSV and sticking with the eufy app and it is a local registration and notification system that seemed be almost instantaneous.
