WeMo smart connection issues

Cupertino, May 13, 2021

I've always been skeptical about trying a smart home device for the first time, since people either have hiccups with anything or just terrible experience and give up. I've been deep in the Apple ecosystem since 2007, most of the time things just go. I bought a smart Belkin WSP080 socket even though Apple from the Apple Store app. Announced Apple is compatible with my Apple devices. I initially tried to set it up on my iPhone 11 and had the smart socket 10 feet away and it failed, so I tried to reset my AirPort time capsule settings to the default values, I also reset the smart socket. At this point, I reset it several times, waited a few hours before connecting it again. Start the setup process in the Wemo application by following the instructions on the Belkin website for WSP080. The plug flashes white after it has been added to the home app, but the wemo app never adds the plug. The included documents indicate that it updates the firmware, but then flashes red after a few minutes, and the paper claims that it means it is not connected and that it is disconnecting / reconnecting. It works in the Home application for a few minutes even after the status light flashes red. Then, after a few minutes, it is no longer accessible and I receive "No Answer". Disconnect it and reconnect it and the process repeats. Flashing white for a few minutes, then flashing red, works for 5-10 minutes before "No Answer" Do I have a faulty unit or is it normal for AirPort router users? That should be here on Monday and I was looking forward to it and was thrilled. I was going to get some window air conditioners for the summer. Another thing, who wrote the directions on Belkin's website? I tried to reset it 6 times before giving up and holding down the power button for more than 5 seconds. It's actually 10 seconds, at least mine. Were the instructions for my model (WSP080) Do we copy and paste instructions from other models or will we actually test our steps to make sure it works? Here is a video on YouTube that I made, showing that the setup process fails. You can hear the relay working inside (also turned on / off the case that was connected and worked for 10 whole minutes https://youtu.be/VyGmXD3T7Pw
