What hardware do I need to convert my light switch-controlled fireplace to a HomeKit controlled fireplace?

Cupertino, July 28, 2023

I have a gas fireplace that turns on/off with a typical light switch in the wall. I thought I could just replace that with a smart switch but from the limited research I did it seems that the mechanism to turn the fire on/off is so low voltage that a smart switch would not work.

Does anyone have handy the hardware I would need to be able to control my fireplace with HomeKit?

Additionally, does HomeKit “support” fireplace control? I guess by that I mean, will a fire icon or similar appear in the home app or will it think I’m just controlling a fan/light/outlet?
