What's the point if Wi-Fi over the network and HomeKit?

Cupertino, January 31, 2024

So I don't understand the point of network and HomeKit. I have another post about HomeKit becoming standard and they listed a mesh system there, but it doesn't make sense why that matters. If you have a good mesh system, what's the point? For example, I use the Nighthawk AX3600 tri-band network and it solved all the WiFi problems I had. I bought HomePods recently and have had no problems. Since I'm thinking of going the smart home route, I'm trying to figure out what's the point of having a gold standard mesh network if the one you solved the problems you bought it for in the first place. Thoughts?
