What’s the real deal with August Locks?

Cupertino, October 5, 2021

I’m looking to pick some up for my house but I’m seeing mixed reviews on them. The consensus seems to be that if you want reliability with HomeKit, buy a 4th gen WiFi one but disable the Wi-Fi so that it relies on Bluetooth. Lastly ensure you have a HomeKit hub within Bluetooth range of the lock.

Those of you who have disabled Wi-Fi, has it been running flawlessly?

EDIT: Bought one and had the same No Response issue as other people. Set up an old iPad pretty close by as an additional home hub and left it hooked to AC. Now it works 95% of the time!
