Why don't more switches support fading???

Cupertino, October 4, 2021

So... I currently own Leviton Decora HK switches, which I love, but they are wi-fi based and not the most reliable. I'm moving into a new place this week and want to switch to something non-wifi based so I am shopping. I'm already equipped to support anything zigbee, z-wave, or thread-based, but...

WHY DON'T MORE SWITCHES FADE ON AND OFF?!?

I need the switch to fade/ramp lights on and off, preferably with configurable ramp rates. It's also important to me that this feature work for both physical button presses and automations. One of the things that kills me about Lutron Caseta is that, while very reliable, they snap to the set brightness when app controlled even though they fade when activated by a physical button press.

This is mostly a rant, but also please tell me if there is a product I have overlooked!

FWIW I am a US resident so all of the beautiful UK switches are off-limits to me.
