Yale provides ghost unlock with home key

Cupertino, January 21, 2024

I recently installed the new Yale insurance with HomeKey support. It is connected to my Apple HomeKit setup with the WiFi module. Over the past couple of days there have been strange events in the Yale app and HomeKit security activity. The door will unlock randomly. Just last night (3:31 am) it unlocked. There are three events at that time that say it has been unlocked. Then, at 6:32 am, it crashed again. A similar activity took place the day before. The door was locked when I went to bed and was unlocked at 4:31 am. When I stood up, I saw that it was indeed unlocked. This morning I wanted to see how events are reported in the Yale app, so I locked and unlocked the door a few different ways (home key, Yale app, home app, keypad, manual). I finally blocked it with the Yale app and went to make some coffee. 5m later I heard the door unlock by itself. What's interesting to me is that all these ghost unlocks/locks are reported as "manually unlocked" or "manually locked". The Yale app will tell if HomeKit, HomeKey and PIN have been used. So it is very strange that they are reported as textbooks. Has anyone seen anything similar?
