HomeKit-supported Nanoleaf smart Matter Christmas lights

Cupertino, October 6, 2023

Today, Nanoleaf is venturing into the realm of smart Christmas lights. The new string lights, which are compatible with Matter, offer a range of colors and can be controlled using Siri, HomeKit, Alexa, and Assistant. These Nanoleaf smart Matter Christmas lights are exactly what their name suggests. They are typical holiday string lights with added smart connectivity. The lights are available in a single length of 20 meters, featuring 250 addressable LEDs throughout. This release marks Nanoleaf's first full adoption of the Matter standard, as the brand's previous releases have mainly focused on Thread integration. To connect the lights to your preferred smart home ecosystem, you can use Matter via Wi-Fi or connect via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, all of which support HomeKit, Alexa, and Assistant. Like other Nanoleaf products, these lights can be controlled using voice commands and offer signature features such as compatibility with Nanoleaf's Sync Plus and screen mirror technology. They also support scheduling, automation, and have an IP44 water resistance rating, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The Nanoleaf Matter smart Christmas lights are priced at $119.99 and are available for pre-order now, with deliveries expected before the holiday season. Nanoleaf's announcement comes shortly after Philips Hue's launch of Festavia lights, their second-generation smart Christmas lights that come in various lengths and are waterproof for indoor and outdoor use. Unlike Nanoleaf's lights, Philips Hue's lights rely on Zigbee connectivity for voice assistant and automation compatibility.
