How to set a default color for HomeKit lights

The Home app on your iPhone and iPad offers some of the most commonly used color options, such as blue and red, in a group of default presets to make color adjustments quick and easy. All you need to set one of these presets is a touch after accessing the light controls.

1. Launch The home application.
2. Press Home icon (on the iPad, go to the next step).

3. Touch the file name The room that your light is inside.

5. Touch it Preset color in the color selection area.

How to set a custom color for HomeKit lights

While the default color options in the Home app are convenient, there may be times when you want to apply a darker or lighter shade to match your vision for home lighting. The Home app makes this simple with an easy-to-use color picker that you drag to dial in the perfect shade, and once saved, your new color will be available as a preset.

How to set the color temperature for HomeKit lights

The Home app also makes it easy to set the color temperature for white lighting so you can switch between soft white and daylight on demand. As well as custom color selection, the Home app gives you a wide range of color temperature adjustments in a color picker that you can drag to find the right fit for your home.

How to set adaptive lighting for HomeKit lights

If you prefer a simpler approach to your home lighting and have the right hardware, you can set the lights to use HomeKit Adaptive Lighting. This smart setting will automatically adjust your home lighting in the afternoon to keep you focused with the whiter color temperature and then switch to yellower tones at night to promote rest.

3. Touch the file name The room that your light is inside.

5. Click on Adaptive lighting icon in the color selection area.
   • This option is only available for HomeKit lighting that has a firmware update to support the feature. If Adaptive Lighting isn't available, check the app for your accessory to see if an update is available.
